Know Your Audience

You want to make sure you understand who your ideal audience is, from Alex Tooby, “The people you want to purchase from you.”

The main question I always focus on as a Virtual Business is the Why. Why do they need my services? How can I create more organic traffic and bring them more customers.

Keep in mind that depending on your business, you may want to check their demographics and qualities as well.

πŸ‘†This is the first and most important step in beginning your Hashtag Research.

Once you have this written down, you can move on to Researching Hashtags. Set about a half hour or so aside to do this efficiently.

Research Your Hashtags

  1. Open up your Instagram on your phone.
  2. Tap the Search icon (looks like πŸ” a 2d magnifier glass).
  3. Type in your search word as if you’re your audience, customer or client.
  4. Tap the Tags category.
  5. Go through the list and start writing down relevant hashtags. ✨ Alex Tooby has a huge tip in finding the right Hashtags that are going to work with your audience and the size of your following to increase authenticity and organic followers and likes to your photos.
  6. Make a list of 30 hashtags that you can now use on each post.
  7. TIP: You can delete these hashtags after they’ve done their job. My personal experience is about 48 hours. That way you don’t look spammy.

Brand Hashtags

These are hashtags that are different from your target audience. It’s about building community, create awareness, to get them involved … etc.

Community Building Hashtags

This provides a way for you to create a category for your brand. It creates a place where you can go to hang with your community and it also creates a place to be featured on your feed.

Create a Feature Hashtags for your Customers

For example if you have a company called Fit Bit Healthy Women. You can encourage your customers to use #FitBitHealthyWomen and provide your customer a prize, or engagement from a large account … etc. You can get tons of content from authentic followers and expand awareness about your brand.
